Free Fun: Activities for Kids in Loudoun County
Summer is quickly approaching, and we want to let you in on our favorite local spots for kids to play and have fun in the sun – and here’s the best part (drum roll, please!) they’re all free! So – get ready to take a screenshot, because this is a list that you won’t want to forget.
- One Loudoun Fountain
On a hot summer day, bring the kids to One Loudoun and let them run around in the fountain while you relax in the sun. There are many fun activities that take place at One Loudoun throughout the summer. For a more comprehensive list, click here.
- Village At Leesburg
Every Saturday Village At Leesburg hosts a free event called “The Plaza Party.” This event consists of live music and tons of free games including, but not limited to, an awesome outdoor splash pad fountain for kids of all ages to enjoy. Also, you might want to grab some Rita’s Water Ice (not free) while you’re there because let’s be honest – Rita’s is one of the great things in life.
- Dinosaur Park
The Ashburn Dinosaur Park is a community favorite. This popular park features nature trails, multiple playgrounds & picnic areas in a wooded setting. There are also basketball courts and a baseball field nearby. The public restroom is well maintained and there are plenty of shaded spots to enjoy on a sunny summer day. If you’re looking for a place that will provide a fun space for your little to burn some energy, then we recommend that you check out the Dinosaur Park!
- Gravelly Point Park (Arlington)
Now this activity may be a little out of the way, but it is AWESOME and… free! This park is a great place for toddlers to enjoy ambling around and watching the planes take off and land at Ronald Reagan National Airport. There are trees to climb, places for a picnic, views of the city, views of the river, and, as previously stated, airplanes landing and taking off!
- If you have any local favorites that you think should be on this list then please let us know and we will include them in our next post!
